India, Sept. 30 -- Access controllers are taking on a bigger role in physical security, but the infrastructure behind them is not always keeping up. The Mercury Security report finds that organisations are placing greater importance on controllers while facing gaps in cybersecurity, cloud readiness and interoperability.

The 2026 Trends in Access Controllers Report surveyed 561 physical security and cybersecurity professionals globally. It found that 78% now consider the controller important or critical to their physical access control strategy, up from 72% in 2025.
