CCI Imposes Rs. 138.85 crore penalty on HP India for government procurement cartelisation
India, July 16 -- The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has issued two landmark enforcement orders under Section 27 of the Competition Act, 2002, imposing cumulative financial penalties of Rs.138.85 crore on HP India. The regulator found the global computing giant guilty of orchestrating coordinated cartel arrangements and bid-rigging networks with its downstream authorised channel partners during public tenders. These tenders were floated through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) digital procurement platform.
The extensive regulatory action also penalises 21 authorised Tier-1 and Tier-2 resellers a combined 3.52 crore, while holding individual corporate officials personally liable under Section 48 of the Act.
