India, May 19 -- A rare Bundibugyo strain of Ebola has infected hundreds and killed dozens in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, prompting the WHO to declare a global health emergency.

With no specific vaccine or treatment available, health authorities are relying on rapid diagnosis, isolation, contact tracing and safe burials, while warning that the outbreak could expand beyond current case counts.

The World Health Organization has declared the Ebola outbreak in Africa a public health emergency of international concern.

So far, 336 people have been infected in the central African and East African countries of Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. At least 88 people have died.
