India, Oct. 9 -- Nearly 50,000 women and girls in Gaza have been killed or severely injured since October 2023, according to UN Women.

The agency says this amounts to one in 21 Gazan women and girls losing their life or living with lifelong disabilities.

Nearly one million women and girls have been forced from their homes after more than 150 evacuation and movement orders.

UN Women says women-led organisations are struggling to meet rising needs amid food insecurity, displacement and limited access to aid.
