India, April 22 -- More than 200 organisations from across the world recently wrote an open letter to the board of the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage (FRLD), warning that without more contributions, the fund can dry up soon.
FRLD is an operating entity under the financial mechanism of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and addresses both economic and non-economic loss and damage. Drying up the fund can hit least developed climate-vulnerable countries most, as well as developing countries which aspire to address climate change-inflicted loss and damage through loss and damage fund support.
