Farmers protest against India-US trade talks as convoys stopped near Delhi
India, July 21 -- Farmers' groups held a protest in Delhi against proposed free trade agreements, including a possible India-US deal.
Several convoys from Punjab and Haryana were stopped near border points, farmer leaders said, although some protesters reached Kisan Ghat.
The Samyukta Kisan Morcha has written to President Droupadi Murmu, demanding that trade negotiation documents be made public and debated in Parliament.
Farmer unions say cheaper subsidised imports could hurt small farmers, MSMEs, domestic industry and traditional seed rights.
