India, March 12 -- Silver prices on Thursday climbed 1.77 per cent to Rs 2,73,240 per kg in futures trade amid global uncertainties.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX), silver contracts for May delivery rose by Rs 4,749, or 1.77 per cent, to Rs 2,73,240 per kilogram, with a business turnover of 5,924 lots.

Analysts said the increase in silver prices was driven by fresh positions created by traders in the futures market.
