India, April 22 -- Silver prices surged 2.08% to around Rs 2.49 lakh per kg in futures trade on Wednesday, supported by geopolitical uncertainty surrounding the West Asia peace situation.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver contracts for May delivery rose by Rs 5,101, or 2.08%, to Rs 2,49,802 per kg, with a turnover of 5,702 lots.
Analysts said the rally was driven by fresh positions built by traders, as uncertainty in global markets boosted demand for safe-haven assets.
