India, March 17 -- Silver prices surged by Rs 2,168 to Rs 2.58 lakh per kg in futures trade on Tuesday, snapping a four-day losing streak amid renewed safe-haven buying triggered by escalating geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, May delivery contracts rose Rs 2,168, or nearly 1 per cent, to Rs 2,58,700 per kg, with a turnover of 5,995 lots.
The metal remained highly volatile during the session, at one point rallying Rs 6,367, or 2.5 per cent, to touch an intraday high of Rs 2,62,899 per kg.
