India, July 22 -- The Indian rupee depreciated by 34 paise to settle at 96.59 (provisional) against the US dollar on Wednesday, pressured by rising crude oil prices and escalating geopolitical tensions.
According to forex traders, heightened risk aversion in global markets and weakness in domestic equity markets further weighed on investor sentiment. During the session, the rupee opened at 96.36 against the US dollar and traded in the range of 96.25–96.57 before closing at 96.59, down 34 paise from the previous close.
