India, Sept. 9 -- The rupee weakened 21 paise to 94.95 against the US dollar in early trade on Wednesday, pressured by a surge in crude oil prices toward the $100-a-barrel mark amid heightened US-Iran tensions.
A softer US dollar provided some support and limited the currency's decline. The rupee opened at 94.80 before slipping to 94.95, compared with its previous close.
