India, Sept. 8 -- The rupee weakened 10 paise to 94.66 against the US dollar in early trade on Tuesday, pressured by a surge in Brent crude prices towards USD 97 per barrel and persistent geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which weighed on investor sentiment.
The domestic currency opened at 94.49 per dollar at the interbank foreign exchange market before slipping to 94.66. However, RBI dollar sales and strong foreign-currency inflows through special schemes helped limit the rupee's losses and kept the currency relatively range-bound.
