India, Aug. 21 -- The rupee strengthened 9 paise to 95.65 against the US dollar in early trade on Friday, supported by weakness in the American currency in overseas markets.

However, the gains were capped by elevated crude oil prices, which continue to weigh on the domestic currency by increasing import costs.

Meanwhile, RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra has indicated that the central bank expects at least USD 80 billion in foreign currency inflows
