India, July 29 -- The Indian rupee appreciated 5 paise to 95.77 against the US dollar in early trade on Wednesday, extending its gains for the fourth consecutive session, supported by a weaker US dollar and lower crude oil prices.
The domestic currency also drew strength from positive sentiment in the equity markets, aided by renewed buying by foreign institutional investors (FIIs), according to forex traders. At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 95.70 before trading at 95.77, up 5 paise from its previous close.
