India, Sept. 23 -- The rupee strengthened 5 paise to 95.57 against the US dollar in early trade on Wednesday, supported by softer crude oil prices and a broader recovery in Asian currencies.
Market participants said the currency's near-term movement will largely depend on developments in the geopolitical situation.
Falling crude prices continue to provide support to the rupee, while a stronger US dollar following the US Federal Reserve's rate hike and continued foreign portfolio outflows remain key headwinds.
