India, July 28 -- The Indian rupee strengthened by 35 paise to 95.64 against the US dollar in early trade on Tuesday, extending its gains as crude oil prices remained under pressure amid easing geopolitical tensions.

According to forex traders, the domestic currency also drew support from a weaker US dollar index and positive sentiment in the equity markets.

At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 95.75 against the greenback and strengthened further to 95.64, marking a gain of 35 paise from its previous close.
