India, Oct. 29 -- The Indian rupee appreciated 11 paise to 95.17 against the US dollar in early trade on Thursday, supported by a slight weakening of the American currency following the US Federal Reserve's monetary policy announcement.

The US Federal Reserve kept interest rates unchanged in the range of 3.75% to 4.00%, in line with market expectations. However, the announcement triggered a mildly negative reaction towards the dollar, according to forex traders.

At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 95.20 against the US dollar before strengthening to 95.17, marking a gain of 11 paise over its previous closing level.
