India, Sept. 17 -- The Indian rupee ended 3 paise lower at 95.94 (provisional) against the US dollar on Thursday, after breaching the 96-per-dollar level during intraday trade. The currency pared most of its losses amid likely intervention by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

A slight decline in the US dollar index and crude oil prices provided some support to the rupee, despite continued global geopolitical uncertainties.

Forex analysts said the rupee remained under pressure due to foreign fund outflows and global trade uncertainties, following the US House of Representatives' approval of legislation authorising President Donald Trump to impose tariffs of up to 100% on India and other countries importing Russian oil.
