India, Sept. 17 -- The Indian rupee weakened by 19 paise in early trade on Thursday, breaching the Rs 96-per-dollar level for the first time in over two months amid weak investor sentiment and heightened global uncertainties.
The currency later pared its losses and turned positive, gaining 10 paise, amid suspected intervention by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
Forex analysts expect the rupee to remain volatile, with elevated crude oil prices hovering around $105 per barrel and broad strength in the US dollar continuing to weigh on the domestic currency.
