India, Aug. 4 -- The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana has crossed the milestone of 50.06 lakh rooftop solar installations, making it one of the world's fastest-growing clean energy programmes under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
Launched with an outlay of Rs 75,021 crore, the scheme has achieved this milestone in just over two years, compared with 7.94 lakh rooftop solar installations completed over the previous decade. Installation momentum has accelerated significantly, with nearly 1 lakh households benefiting every six days. The daily installation rate has increased from 5,038 in October 2025 to around 16,328 in July 2026, while July 2026 alone recorded a record 5.06 lakh installations.
