India, Aug. 27 -- The Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) has completed 12 years since its launch on August 28, 2014, emerging as a key pillar of India's financial inclusion framework and expanding access to formal banking services across the country.

As of August 19, 2026, the total number of PMJDY accounts stood at 59.09 crore, with deposits of Rs 3.17 lakh crore. Women account holders accounted for 55.7%, while 77.8% of accounts were held in rural and semi-urban areas.
