India, July 8 -- Maruti Suzuki India Ltd has commissioned a 1 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at its Kharkhoda manufacturing facility in Haryana, as part of its efforts to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability.

The company said the BESS has been deployed as a pilot project and integrated with the plant's internal electricity distribution network to support efficient energy management.

The initiative builds on Maruti Suzuki's renewable energy efforts at the facility, where it commissioned a 20 MWp solar power plant in 2025. The battery storage system is expected to improve the utilisation of renewable energy and strengthen the plant's overall energy infrastructure.
