India, April 6 -- India's major ports handled a record 915.17 million tonnes (MT) of cargo in FY2025–26, registering a 7.06% year-on-year growth and exceeding the annual target of 904 MT, according to the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.

The strong performance reflects improved operational efficiency, infrastructure upgrades, and sustained growth in trade activity, aligned with the government's long-term maritime vision.

Among ports, Deendayal Port Authority led with 160.11 MT, followed by Paradip Port Authority (156.45 MT) and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (102.01 MT). In terms of growth, Mormugao Port recorded the highest increase, followed by Kolkata Dock System and JNPA.
