India, Aug. 6 -- Indian Railways has implemented a comprehensive set of fire safety measures across railway stations and trains to prevent fire incidents and ensure a swift emergency response, Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed the Lok Sabha.

At railway stations, fire safety measures include the deployment of portable fire extinguishers, fire buckets, automatic fire alarms in critical areas, emergency public address systems, baggage scanning at major stations, regular electrical safety audits, clearly marked emergency exits and periodic drives to prevent passengers from carrying inflammable materials. Railway personnel are also regularly trained in firefighting, first aid and disaster management.
