India, May 19 -- Indian Railways has approved the 54-km Kiul–Jhajha third line project at an estimated cost of Rs 962 crore to strengthen rail capacity on the high-density Howrah–Delhi corridor.
The project forms part of Indian Railways' High Traffic Density Network and aims to improve operational efficiency, reduce congestion and support smoother passenger as well as freight movement across Eastern and Northern India.
Ashwini Vaishnaw said the additional rail line will help enhance punctuality and operational flexibility on the heavily utilised route while supporting industrial growth and trade connectivity in the region.
