India, Sept. 1 -- Indian Railways has approved Rs 272 crore for the construction of an 11-km bypass line between Adra end and Joychandipahar under South Eastern Railway, aimed at expanding freight handling capacity and easing congestion on the corridor.
The proposed Adra-Joychandipahar-Sanka bypass will provide dedicated path segregation along with a bi-directional connection to the upcoming third line. The project is expected to accommodate around 6.065 additional freight rakes per day and cater to rising industrial traffic.
The bypass will support freight requirements linked to SAIL's estimated 23.40 MTPA iron ore demand and BCCL's projection of 45 rakes per day. It is also expected to address operational bottlenecks and delays caused b...
