India, June 30 -- HDFC Bank's board has appointed former Finance Secretary Rajiv Kumar as its new Chairman. Kumar, who played a key role in strengthening the public sector banking system and driving financial sector reforms, succeeds Atanu Chakraborty, who stepped down in March citing ethical concerns.
Kumar also served as the 25th Chief Election Commissioner of India and oversaw the successful conduct of the 2024 General Election, the world's largest democratic exercise by voter participation.
