India, Sept. 7 -- The GST Council meeting, earlier scheduled for September 12, has been rescheduled to October 7 due to the BRICS summit being hosted by India.

India is set to host the annual BRICS summit in New Delhi on September 12 and 13, where leaders are expected to discuss key global challenges, including the economic impact of the ongoing West Asia crisis.

The BRICS grouping, initially comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, expanded in 2024 with the inclusion of Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and the UAE, while Indonesia joined the bloc in 2025.
