India, March 18 -- The government has expanded the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) framework to include solar ingots and wafers, with the new ALMM List-III set to come into effect from June 1, 2028.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) said the move extends mandatory domestic sourcing requirements—already applicable to solar modules and cells—further upstream in the solar value chain, where India remains heavily dependent on imports.
