India, June 8 -- The Central Government has re-appointed Shri Swaminathan Janakiraman as Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for a further period of two years.
According to the notification, the re-appointment will take effect from June 26, 2026, and will remain valid for a period of two years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Janakiraman has been serving as Deputy Governor of the RBI and has played a key role in overseeing various regulatory, supervisory, and banking-related functions at the central bank. His re-appointment ensures continuity in the RBI's leadership team amid ongoing efforts to strengthen the financial sector and maintain macroeconomic stability.
