India, March 6 -- Gold prices climbed by Rs 848 to Rs 1,60,521 per 10 grams in futures trade on Friday as speculators built fresh positions amid strong demand in the spot market.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold contracts for April delivery increased by Rs 848, or 0.53 per cent, to Rs 1,60,521 per 10 grams, with a business turnover of 1,272 lots.

Analysts said the rise in gold prices was driven by fresh buying interest among market participants.
