India, Aug. 24 -- Gold prices climbed Rs 1,283 to Rs 1,63,721 per 10 grams in futures trading on Monday, supported by firm spot demand and fresh position-building by market participants.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold contracts for October delivery advanced Rs 1,283, or 0.79%, to Rs 1,63,721 per 10 grams, with a business turnover of 3,424 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in gold futures to the creation of fresh positions by traders, which supported the precious metal's prices.
