India, March 16 -- India's merchandise exports declined 0.81 percent year-on-year to $36.61 billion in February, according to government data released on Monday.

Meanwhile, imports rose 24.11 percent to $63.71 billion during the month, compared with $51.33 billion in February last year.

As a result, the country's trade deficit widened to $27.1 billion in February.
