India, April 27 -- Defence Research and Development Organisation (VRDE) and Bharat Forge Limited have flagged off the Vikram VT 21, a co-developed advanced armoured platform, marking a key milestone in India's indigenous defence capabilities.
The project includes two variants—Advanced Armoured Platform Wheeled (AAP-Wh) and Advanced Armoured Platform Tracked (AAP-Tr)—developed in collaboration with Tata Advanced Systems Limited, along with several MSMEs.
The AAP-Wh platform has progressed from concept to combat-ready in under three years, highlighting the effectiveness of the Development Cum Production Partner (DCPP) model, which integrates DRDO's R&D expertise with industry-scale manufacturing.
