India, June 9 -- Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved the establishment of a 250 MW solar power project integrated with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh. The project will be developed on around 850 acres of vacant defence land, making it the first large-scale solar power initiative of its kind on defence land undertaken by the Ministry of Defence.
The project is aimed at enhancing energy security, promoting renewable energy adoption, and ensuring optimal utilisation of unused defence land.
