India, Aug. 19 -- Crude oil futures extended their gains for a fourth consecutive session on Wednesday, rising Rs 57, or nearly 1 per cent, to Rs 8,145 per barrel, supported by firm global prices and renewed concerns over energy supply disruptions from West Asia.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), crude oil contracts for September delivery traded at Rs 8,145 per barrel, with a business turnover of 11,535 lots.

Analysts said continued uncertainty surrounding oil supplies from the Middle East and shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has kept crude prices elevated. Gaurav Garg, Head of Research at Lemonn Markets Desk, said concerns over regional supplies and Hormuz shipping disruptions continued to support MCX crude oil futures.
