India, Aug. 19 -- The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the upgradation of the 82.578-km Muzaffarpur-Sitamarhi-Sonbarsa section of NH-22 in Bihar to four-lane standards at a total capital cost of Rs 3,590.73 crore.
The project will be developed under the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) and is aimed at strengthening connectivity between Muzaffarpur and the India-Nepal border at Sonbarsa. The corridor will connect Muzaffarpur with NH-27, forming an important link with the East-West Corridor.
The upgraded highway is expected to ease congestion in densely populated areas including Muzaffarpur, Muksudpur, Runni Saidpur, Thumma, Dumra, Bhutahi and Sonbarsa, while enabling faster and safer mov...
