For Sameer Raje, that definition is already outdated.

A telephone call is communication and collaboration. So is chat. So is email. A calendar invite is part of the same process. Even two people standing in front of a whiteboard and working through an idea are collaborating without an application anywhere in sight.

Raje, General Manager and Head, India & SAARC, Zoom, makes the point because it gets to the problem the company is now trying to solve. A conversation may help people make a decision. But somebody still has to schedule the follow-up, update the CRM, raise a service ticket, notify another team or turn that decision into work.
