India, July 12 -- India's Central and Assam governments have approved a Rs.14,044 crore financial incentive package for the Tata Electronics semiconductor facility in Jagiroad, Morigaon district.

Out of the total Rs.27,000 crore project cost, the Centre will give Rs.10,255 crore, while Assam will contribute Rs.3,789 crore.The funds will help build the state's first major chip packaging plant.

Think of this plant like a protective factory. Raw computer chips from all over will arrive here. The factory will put them inside hard covers and add pins. This lets the chips connect to phones, cars, and computers.

Daily output will be 48 million chips per day. Over 27,000 employment opportunities will be created, including 15,000 direct jobs.Co...
