Sri Lanka, Sept. 27 -- A tense atmosphere prevailed in Parliament yesterday (26) when Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Mujibur Rahman inquired about the appointment of the Director General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), High Court Judge Ranga Dissanayake, stating that he has been working for the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Legal Affairs Unit.

MP Rahman said that there are reports that Ranga Dissanayake had previously worked for the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna's (JVP) legal team and questioned the independence of the CIABOC as a result, citing that this was a serious issue regarding the independence of the Bribery Commission.
