India, May 2 -- The Pentagon's "Magnificent Eight" AI pact is aimed at securing high-stakes cloud and frontier model capabilities for classified defence networks.

In what is seen as a shift towards "AI-first" warfare, the US Department of Defence (DoD) has signed a landmark agreement with seven leading technology giants to integrate advanced AI across its most sensitive networks.

This is clearly a move by the US at maintaining a strategic edge over its global adversaries and focuses on what is called Impact Level 6 (IL6) and Impact Level 7 (IL7) environments which is considered as the highest tiers of classified data. These eight companies include OpenAI, Google, Microsoft,AWS, NVIDIA, SpaceX and Reflection AI, and Oracle.
