India, Jan. 22 -- Mistral AI, the Paris-based artificial intelligence firm, is in active discussions with the Karnataka government to establish a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Bengaluru. The potential move, disclosed during the World Economic Forum 2026, signals the company's intent to leverage India's deep technical talent pool as part of its global expansion strategy.

Karnataka's Minister for Large and Medium Industries, MB Patil, met with Audrey Herblin Stoop, Vice President of Global Public Affairs and Communication at Mistral AI, to discuss the proposal. The center would likely adopt a phased growth model, starting with engineering teams before expanding into advanced research and scientific capabilities.
