India, Sept. 5 -- India's most advanced artificial intelligence users are moving quickly from prompts and copilots to agents and redesigned workflows. The organisations around them now have to keep pace.

Microsoft's 2026 Work Trend Index finds that 32% of Indian AI users surveyed qualify as "Frontier Professionals", its classification for workers who use AI agents for complex or multi-step work, regularly redesign workflows around AI, and participate in repeatable AI-enabled practices. The global average is 16%, with India recording the highest share among the ten markets in the core study.
