Micron breaks ground on approximately $9.2 billion HBM plant in Hiroshima, Japan
India, July 10 -- Micron Technology has broken ground on a new advanced memory production facility in Hiroshima, Japan, with a total investment of approximately Euro1.5 trillion (approximately $9.3 billion). The Japanese government is providing a substantial subsidy of up to Euro536 billion (approximately $3.3 billion) to accelerate the reconstruction of its semiconductor supply chain.
This move comes immediately after Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix announced massive domestic investments totaling over ₩800 trillion (approximately $523 billion) in South Korea. With China's CXMT also aggressively expanding, the global race to increase memory chip production capacity is intensifying.
