India, June 15 -- Mark Zuckerberg's latest message to Meta employees was notable for its candour.

In an internal memo dated June 12, 2026, the Meta chief executive acknowledged that the company had made mistakes while restructuring its workforce around artificial intelligence (AI). Together, the layoffs and transfers affected nearly one-fifth of Meta's workforce.
