Kerala appoints Bishwanath Sinha chief secretary amid digital governance push
India, June 24 -- The Kerala cabinet has appointed senior IAS officer Bishwanath Sinha as the state's next Chief Secretary, effective July 1, 2026. A 1992-batch officer, Sinha will succeed Dr A. Jayathilak, who retires on June 30.
Sinha currently serves as Additional Chief Secretary (Home) and is expected to remain in the role until September 2028. His appointment comes at a time when Kerala is pushing ahead with digital governance, public digital infrastructure, and a broader technology-led development agenda.
