India, Aug. 28 -- Global semiconductor revenue is set to nearly double in 2026 as artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure spending and an extraordinary surge in memory revenue reshape the economics of the chip industry.

Gartner's latest worldwide semiconductor forecast, released on August 24, puts 2026 revenue at USD 1.56 trillion, up 92% from USD 809 billion in 2025. That represents an annual increase of about USD 746 billion.

The research firm expects the market to reach USD 1.94 trillion in 2027.

Aggressive global AI data centre construction and a stronger-than-anticipated memory pricing cycle are driving the expansion, according to Gartner.
