India, April 6 -- As enterprises deepen their AI adoption, the focus is beginning to shift from assistance to execution. According to Gartner, this transition could reshape how work gets done across organisations. The firm now predicts that by 2028, more than half of enterprises will stop investing in assistive AI tools such as copilots and smart advisors and instead move toward platforms that deliver measurable workflow outcomes.
This marks a structural shift in enterprise AI. Instead of humans using AI to complete tasks, organisations are moving toward systems where AI executes work autonomously within defined policy and identity constraints, with humans stepping into supervisory roles.
