India, Oct. 28 -- Gartner has identified five AI trends that will shape infrastructure and IT operations (I&O) in 2027, as enterprises seek to scale AI adoption, improve operational efficiency and manage rising infrastructure costs.

A Gartner survey of 272 heads of I&O, conducted between April and May 2026, found that 58% consider scaling AI proofs of concept into I&O adoption an important priority over the next 12 months.

Jonathan Forest, VP Analyst at Gartner, said AI represents a significant shift for the I&O function. He advised I&O leaders to focus on strategic investments that deliver measurable business impact rather than attempting to address every aspect of AI simultaneously.
