Pakistan, Sept. 20 -- Washington has approved a potential $2.7 billion military sale to Ukraine for air defense upgrades, equipment and related services. The US State Department announced the decision in a notification to Congress, while the proposed deal still requires congressional review. The package aims to strengthen Ukraine's ability to protect its territory amid the ongoing war with Russia.

The proposed sale includes S-300 clone missiles, GAM-67 missiles and extended-range laser-guided air defense systems. It also covers launcher modification kits, mobile launching equipment and counter-drone radar systems. These systems form part of a broader package requested by Ukraine to upgrade its air defense capabilities.
